Stubborn injured husband....any advice?

Im trying to force my husband to go to the family doctor, but he is VERY stubborn. About four years ago he dropped a very heavy panel on his big toe, the toe was red and inflamed and he lost his toe nail. He went to the ER about a week after he injured it and they said that the toe will heal eventually. But it has not healed. Its still red, swollen, the toenail is deformed, and every now and then it will have a foul smelling secretion. And this is four years later. My question is What could be wrong with his toe, and how can I talk him into seeing a doctor? and ideas or tips?Stubborn injured husband....any advice?
Blackmail. Give him a reason he'd want to go other than his own personal well being.Stubborn injured husband....any advice?
Sounds like the toenail became deformed due to the previous injury, so when it tried to regrow, it couldn't do so properly. He probably had an ingrown toenail which became a full-blown infected toe. If it's gone on this long, it's a big problem. My boyfriend had this same problem b/c he was a football player and had his foot jammed in cleats all the time. If your husband doesn't want to risk losing his toe, he needs to see the Dr., who will probably numb the nailbed and remove the toenail. If the toe cannot grow correctly due to the injury, they can deaden the nailbed, disallowing the toenail to grow back.
Have you tried soaking his foot in about an inch of hot water with about a cup of Epsom Salts? After 20 minutes, wait about 20 minutes then do it again. Any infection should start leaching out of his toe in long strands. An infection lasting four years though, could be in his bloodstream by now and he needs antibiotics.
